Are You Talking to a Clinic — Or a Marketing Agency?

You found them on Instagram. The WhatsApp coordinator responds instantly. The before-and-after photos look incredible. But here's the question nobody asks: is this actually a dental clinic — or a marketing company that will hand you off to a dentist you've never spoken to?

How dental tourism agencies work

A marketing agency creates a professional website, runs Instagram ads, and employs WhatsApp coordinators who speak English fluently. They collect your deposit, book your flights and hotel, and arrange a "VIP transfer" from the airport. What they don't do is own a clinic, employ dentists, or hold any healthcare licence.

When you arrive, you're taken to whichever clinic the agency has a commercial arrangement with — often based on whoever offers the agency the best commission, not who offers you the best treatment. The dentist you meet on day one may never have seen your X-rays before that morning.

How to tell the difference

Ask for the HealthTürkiye authorisation certificate — agencies can't obtain one. Ask for the name and registration number of the dentist who will treat you — agencies often can't confirm this until you arrive. Search for the clinic's physical address on Google Maps — does it match a real dental facility? Check whether the "clinic" name on WhatsApp matches any registered healthcare provider.

Why it matters

If something goes wrong with your treatment, your complaint needs to go to the entity that treated you — the clinic. But if you booked through an agency, the agency will point at the clinic, the clinic will point at the agency, and you're left in between with no clear accountability. An independent audit of your quote before you commit can identify whether you're dealing with a clinic or an intermediary — before your deposit disappears into the gap between them.
